What is Salty Dog Pottery
Salty Dog Potter is a paint your own pottery studio that offers a unique and creative experience for all ages. We provide a wide range of unpainted ceramic pieces, including plates, mugs, figurines, and more, ready for you to personalize with your artistic touch.
How does it work?
At Salty Dog Pottery, the process is simple and enjoyable. Choose your favorite unpainted ceramic piece from our extensive selection, select your colors, and let your creativity flow as you paint your design. Our friendly staff is available to offer guidance, painting tips, and techniques to help you create your masterpiece.
Do I need to have artistic skills or experience?
No artistic skills or experience are required! Salty Dog Pottery is a welcoming space for beginners and experienced artists alike. Our knowledgeable staff is here to assist and inspire you throughout the process, ensuring a fun and stress-free painting experience.
Can I bring my family and friends?
Absolutely! Salty Dog Pottery is the perfect destination for quality time with your loved ones. We encourage families, friends, and groups of all sizes to join us and create lasting memories together. It’s a fantastic activity for birthdays, family outings, team-building events, and more.
How long does it take to complete a project?
The time required to complete a project varies depending on the size and complexity of the piece. On average, painting a pottery piece takes around 1-2 hours. However, there’s no rush—take your time and enjoy the process at your own pace.
In-Complete Pottery.
If you don't have enough time to finish your piece in one visit, you must take it home and bring it back to complete it. You may bring it back within 1 week of the purchase date at no additional charge. If you need to leave your unfinished pottery in the studio, it will incur a $1 per day/per piece storage fee. You may return within 1 week of purchase date to complete your piece at no additional charge. If the pottery is not complete within 1 week, an $8 studio fee per piece will be applied, in addition to the daily storage fee per piece. We are not responsible for pieces left on the unfinished pottery rack or any damages that may show up after firing. Work-in-Progress items will be considered forfeited if not picked up within 4 weeks (30 days) past the date on your purchase receipt. These pieces will be date marked and annotated on a "Recycled" list. They cannot be recovered and will not be replaced in any form. It is your responsibility to ensure the phone number on the receipt is accurate and we are not responsible if your voice mail is not set up yet or full. We encourage you to follow up on your Work-In-Progress pieces and maintain clear communication about your intentions to finish this piece. If you chose to take your unfinished pottery home and bring it back to finish, you may do so at no additional charge.
What happens after I finish painting?
Once you’re done painting, leave your masterpiece on your table and our staff will take care of the rest. We’ll glaze and fire the pottery in our kiln, transforming it into a vibrant ceramic piece. Your finished artwork will be ready for pick-up in a few days.
Do I need a reservation?
We accept walk-ins on a first-come-first-serve basis. We do recommend making a reservation to guarantee space if your party is over 6 people. On Saturdays and Sundays, we are especially busy and typically have limited space for walk-ins. Reservation time slot is 1.5 hrs and must be made prior to walking in. We do our best to accommodate your reservation, but opening hour is the only time slot we can guarantee you will be seated at the exact time of your reservation.
How much does it cost?
Most of our ceramics range in price from $15-$130.
We Ship! How much does it cost?
Shipping costs are calculated by the size of your pottery and the location it is being shipped to, plus a $5 convenience fee per shipping box will. be added for shipping.
Can We Bring Food?
No. If food is brought into the studio, you will incur a clean up fee. Paid parties are the exception to this rule. Grease from food will prevent glazes from sticking to the pottery.
How long will Salty Dog Pottery hold my items until I can pick them up?
You are responsible for remembering to pick up your pottery, after all you put a lot of effort into creating a personalized piece of art. Please do not forget to pick it up. Pottery is considered abandoned if it has been more than 60 days past the pickup date, which will be 60 days after the date on your purchase receipt. These pieces will be date marked, annotated in a "Donation" list and then donated to charity. They cannot be recovered and will not be replaced in any form. It is your responsibility to ensure the phone number on the receipt is accurate and we are not responsible if your voice mail is not set up yet or full. We encourage you to follow up on your pottery if you have not heard from us in 14 days.
Can I paint at home?
Yes! Our studio would happily wrap up a piece of your choice with 3-5 mini paint pots paints/glazes of your choice and brushes for an up-charge. You must use the provided glazes if you wish to bring it back for firing. Additional paints may be purchased.
Are your paints non-toxic?
All of our glazes are non-toxic and food safe.
Do you have items for babies and toddlers?
Toddlers have fun making their own masterpieces with plenty of supervision. A great option for babies and toddlers, are our print keepsakes! Our staff will help you stamp your little ones' hands/feet onto your favorite piece to create a beautiful memory that will last forever.
Can I host special events at Salty Dog Pottery?
Absolutely! Salty Dog Pottery is a great place for special events. Whether it’s a birthday party, girls night out, date night, team-building activity, bridal shower, or any other occasion, our studio can accommodate groups up to 32.
Can I purchase gift certificates?
Yes! Gift certificates are the perfect way to share the joy of pottery painting. They make great gifts for birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions.

What are your opening hours?
We are open Monday – Thursday from 1 pm – 6 pm. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 am – 7 pm. The last time to walk-in and paint is 1 hr before closing.
Is there any age limit to paint pottery?
Nope! Everyone is welcomed at our pottery painting studio. All children under the ages of 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. To ensure a calm and relaxing atmosphere for all of our painters in the studio, running and roughhousing is strictly prohibited. All pottery broken or damaged as a result of roughhousing will be paid for at the customers expense.
